This creamy blue cheese pasta only needs 4 ingredients and is on the table in less than 15 minutes. Sounds awesome? I think so too!
3-ingredient white pasta sauce
Creamy white pasta sauces are simply the best! For this sauce, you’ll only need 3 ingredients: heavy cream, blue cheese, and lemon zest. Add a pinch of freshly ground pepper for some extra flavor, if you like. Toss it with the cooked pasta – the 4th ingredient – and voila!
Blue cheese substitutes
If you don’t have blue cheese on hand, gorgonzola is a great option for this pasta sauce too! I’ve tried to swap blue cheese for crumbled feta but that made the sauce kind of bland and boring. It’s best to stick to either blue cheese or gorgonzola.

Quick Blue Cheese Lemon Pasta (4 ingredients!)
Ingredients
- 8 ounces (227 g) spaghetti
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- ½ cup (50 g) crumbled blue cheese
- 1 organic lemon (for zest)
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
- Grated parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to packet instructions. Drain and return pasta to the pot to keep warm while you make the sauce.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat cream, crumbled blue cheese, pepper, and the grated zest of about half a lemon (use remaining grated zest for topping) in a small saucepan or pan, stirring often. Cook for 3-5 minutes. Taste and add a pinch of salt, if necessary. Usually no additional salt is required as the cheese makes the sauce quite salty.
- Add the sauce to the cooked pasta and toss to combine. Cover with a lid and let it sit for 3 minutes to allow the pasta to soak up some of the sauce. During this time, the sauce will thicken (it will continue to firm-up on the plate). Do not skip this step as the resting time makes the sauce creamy. Stir before serving.
- Serve in bowls and top with more lemon zest and some grated parmesan, if using.

Love the addition of lemon peel. I used a lemon from my sis in-law‘s garden. It tasted fantastic. Keeper!

Tried it with regular full-fat cream and a 2nd time with half-half. I definitely prefer the regular cream version. I will experiment with different kinds of cheese, too.

Can’t wait to try tonight Sounds simple and delicious. I’m betting the garlic added is the perfect addition. Trying to decide whether to pair it with pan seared grouper fillets or fresh sautéed shrimp?

When the days are getting chillier and the evenings are darker, I am a sucker for a cheesy pasta dish, like mac and cheese. I thought, I'd try something new for a change, which I barely do, and made the blue cheese lemon pasta above. What can I say! My girlfriend loves me even more after I cooked this lol. It#s such an easy yet classy dinner. This goes into my recipe book.

I love this pasta. I‘ve made it several times already and always have cream and blue cheese on hand now. I put in more blue cheese though, about 3/4 cup, for an intenser flavor.

Hello Andi,
Happy to hear that you've made the pasta a few times already 🙂 It seems that you like blue cheese very much so of course you have to adapt the recipe to your liking. I find more than 1/2 cup of blue cheese overpowering for my taste, that's why I have suggested to use 1/2 cup. Thanks for the comment!

I added a crushed garlic clove to the sauce. Gorgeous!! Now I have to make it at least once a week for my boyfriend 😂

I bet that the hint of garlic works great in this recipe. Thanks for the comment Suza!
